Track, Road, Time-Trial, MTB, Youth Development and Social, we love cycling!
The Bournemouth Arrow Cycling Club was founded in 1927 to promote all forms of cycling in the Bournemouth area. Our members take part in all forms of cycle activity including Road Time Trialling, Road Racing, Track, Cyclo-cross, Mountain-biking, Sportives and social rides.
We are affiliated to most British cycling organisations including British Cycling and Cycle Time Trials. We are accredited to Sport England’s Clubmark and British Cycling’s Go-Ride standards.
The club has six British Cycling qualified coaches with a vast first hand experience of track, road racing, time trial and mountain biking.
In 2012, we partnered with Winton College to set up a Centre of Cycling Excellence. We have the strongest coaching facilities in the area with supervised training sessions occurring on a weekly basis throughout the year.
We run a weekly Club Track night, open to experienced club members only, every Tuesday evening during the summer at the Bournemouth Cycling Centre (BCC), Ensbury Park, Bournemouth BH10 4EP. Here, we will help you develop specific skills and fitness including Derny sessions for that vital top end work.
In a development from its traditional Go Ride Cycling Skills sessions for kids, the first hour of the Club Track Night will be focussed on Junior Development for young riders over the age of 11. The club has a fleet of six Dolan track bikes for the exclusive use of club members at the BCC.
During the winter we hold monthly coach-led training sessions at the indoor track at Calshot.
We hold a weekly 10 mile time trial series every Thursday on a course from Ringwood to Sopley and back. All riders are welcome, including novices, it is strongly advised that riders wear a helmet and use a rear light. Events are run each year from mid April to the end of August. Start time is 7.15pm during May and July and 6.45pm either side of these months. HQ is Stag Business Park, just south of Ringwood on B3347.
Through our exclusive partnership with Winton College, and under the tutelage of our trained coaches, Arrow members have access to the very latest in training technology to measure power output and pedalling efficiency. We run weekly Wattbike sessions every Friday during the Winter.
Keep an eye on our website and Facebook site for news of our training rides. These include a Saturday morning ride throughout the year of 30-40 miles, leaving from Parley Cross, and Tuesday and Thursday evening rides during winter.
Our website also contains details of the Sky Ride Local and British Cycling Social Rides which are also ideal for beginners and non-competitive riders alike.
