Time Trials All our events have now finished but we hope to run a similar calendar of events next year. Many thanks to those who help run the events this year especially Julian James & George Bolton without whom none of the events would have been possible. Next year we will continue to run our open events to be organised by Don Standhaft. The Good Friday 10 is on 10th April, the Open 25 Sunday 31st May and the GHS 10 Thursday 25th June. All three events to be run at Ringwood. Results William & David Couch - Cycling Racing Results Summary 2008
David in addition this year has been attending the DHL Sprint School at Newport (4th April, 13th June, 18th July). Time Trials Entries for this year’s Club 10s were down a bit, probably due to this so called summer we have had. We had to cancel one evening 10 and the club evening 25 championship due to the heavy rain and we were not able to rerun it. We lost the last 10 as we had no timekeeper, and would appreciate any assistance fornext year to prevent this happening again. Our Open events were run by Louise Burman to whom we are very grateful. Next year’s 25 will be on a version of the P304 2 lap circuit starting at Ringwood to enable members to ride and help with the organisation. 2008 Evening 10 league

Visit his website www.citruscycling.co.uk Slades Farm Latest. As many of you will know, we have been successful with the Planning Application for a 250 m outdoor tarmac track to be built at Slades Farm in Ensbury Park. This is possibly the biggest breakthrough for the club in the last 50 years. It will provide us with a base for all our activities since there are changing rooms and aCommunity Hall close by. The Club has been trying to secure a base in the heart of Bournemouth for years and this could not have happened at a better time. You would have needed to be on the Planet Mars to have missed the fantastic Track Cycling at the Olympics and the case for the provision of local facilities where cyclists of all standards can match the performances of Chris Hoy, Vicky Pendleton etc (in their heads if not necessarily through the pedals !) has never been stronger. In the past, local riders such as Darren Kenny, Anne Stevens, Dave Gilham and Team Couch have had to go to Manchester or Newport to learn the discipline and techniques of riding a 250 m track. Soon we hope it will be possible for everyone to taste these delights. But how soon is soon? The money will come predominately from British Cycling and the Local Authority. Councillor Stephen Mccloughlin, the Leader of the Council, is attending our Dinner on 13th December so come along and show your support for our project and encourage him to dig deep into his budgets! British Cycling has submitted a Funding Application for April 09 to cover all their requirements and this includes some money for Slades. We will find out if they will be granted all they requested in the first half of next year. Construction will take about 12 weeks so if, and I do mean if, the money can be found we could have a facility available by Autumn 2009. However, this is not the only cycling project we have. Behind the scenes we have also been influencing the proposed redevelopment around Winton and Glenmoor Schools. This will be funded by the Government’s Building Schools for the Future scheme and will result in a redevelopment of these school’s sites. We have the objective of having a 1 km road circuit as part of the redeveloped school infrastructure. Mark Adams from British Cycling has been working very closely on both Slades Farm Track and this Schools development and we hope to get Mark along to our Club Dinner also. We are closer to these truly exciting developments than we have ever been. I would like to take this opportunity to place on record the fact that without the support of our Club members, running Cycling Skills classes for kids for over 15 years, none of this would have happened.
