Welcome to the Bournemouth Arrow Cycling Club new web page. The Club was founded in 1927 in the Bournemouth area to take part in all forms of cycling.

Now we take part in all forms of cycle sport (Road Time trialing, Road Racing, Track Racing, Cyclo Cross, & Mountain Biking.) Organising and Competing. We also partake in social riding and weekend rides. For more details see the 5 2 what’s on page.

We are affiliated to most British cycling organisations the CTT (Cycle Time Trials) BC (British Cycling)

Club Evening 10 25th June

This week our club held the South District heat for the Schools GHS 10 championship. The Event was won By Jon Dibben DH Cycles with a time of 22:08 The best Bournemouth Arrow rider was William Stevenson with a time of 24:24 who was also 2nd overall also Sam Jackson 4th 26:46 just ahead of Ellie Gilham 5th 26:48 1st girl also her first solo 10. well done to all riders.

Also many thanks to the Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers for there help with the time keeping. Thanks to Pete Warhurst and Jacky Prosser for the time keeping and Andre Barber for taking over from Pete Warhurst as start time keeper for the following club event. Without there help we would not be able to have run the event. If there are any club members who can help with time keeping let me or Kevin May know, at present the clubs only regular time keeper is Julian James who cannot be there every week.

The following club event was won by Peter Wilson 23:47.

Road Racing

Its time to dust off your bikes Arrow roadies! We have some great racing on locally this year with the season just getting underway.

After welcoming back Barnsfield last year it is back this year with a bang and lots of events on over the coming season run under the new Wessex Cycle Racing League.

We also have another great series of races at the Mountbatten Centre Portsmouth which host circuit races throughout the summer and very easy to get to for some fast and furious racing.

The TLI are running another popular road series through the summer as well over at Moreton on Thursday nights and also a series in the New Forest on some Tuesday evenings.

If you are new to racing or fancy a go it can be a little confusing as to what each cycling body does event wise. Generally speaking there are three main racing bodies who run road race events for various categories :-

British Cycling :- Lots of events locally with beginner category right up to Elite level races. www.britishcycling.org.uk

TLI :- The League International - lots of events locally- great for getting experience of racing on the road and age related categories. www.theleagueinternational.com

LVRC :- Over 40 age related racing - not too many events in this area so need to travel more. www.lvrc.org

Time Trial handbooks available:

I have just received a delivery of 10 CCT 2009 handbooks. £6.60 I am not able to attend AGM tomorrow night due to work commitments but will try and get them to someone to take to AGM so they should be available.

Calshot Dates Winter 2008/2009

Calshot this winter, these are the second Saturday each month except January which will be the 3rd Saturday, starting at 10.00 am, experienced riders 10 till 12, less experienced/kids 12 - 1.00pm. Contact Alan McRae for more details.
