Arrow Plans For 2015

At the Annual Members Meeting, after a look back at 2014 and formal thanks to all those members who contributed to Club life, plans for 2015 were agreed. Whether winter or summer, the Club will run no fewer than 4 activities each and every week plus a number of monthly and one off events.

Already started are the Tuesday Turbo Sessions led by Dave Gilham at Winton College. So far around 20 members each week attend as Dave barks out the schedule while actually taking part himself and thumping music provided by Team Haycock dulls the pain! No such luck dulling the pain on Fridays where 3 groups use our 8 Wattbikes for an hour each group, coached by Dave Gilham, Alan McRae and Barry Watkinson, no music, just cadence, power output and pedalling technique to focus on. The Saturday morning ride led by Steve Staniland leaves Parley at 8:30am while Dave Gilham organises 2 groups for the Sunday morning ride. Each month the Club will hold Coaching Meetings at Winton College and there are 2 more Calshot Track sessions planned for February and March.

Looking forward to the summer, each week the club will be organising the Tuesday Track League with help from other clubs and individuals, our very popular club 10’s will run on Thursdays and our Club Track Training night will be on Fridays. The Saturday rides will continue throughout the summer.

As if that is not enough, we will be organising the traditional Open Good Friday 10 mile TT at Ringwood with support from the nearby David Lloyd Centre. July sees the Bournemouth Arrow Open Track Meeting open to all categories of seniors and youth riders and, in a new venture, the Chris Braiden Open 10 mile Team Time Trial in August again from Ringwood in memory of the club mate we so tragically lost last year.

Plenty to be getting on with there then and most of it free to Arrow members. Don’t be surprised therefore when Peter Fairbank calls, he of the numerous duty rotas will be asking for your occasional help to make all this possible. The Club will need your help to fulfil this ambitious programme.
